SmartLabrador has a strong history in project management and a demonstrated capacity to lead projects involving infrastructure development, IT applications, training, information management and administration. We have a reputation for innovation and a track record of success. We have strong and positive relationships with all levels of government, industry and the Labrador community.

• SmartLabrador began life more than 15 years ago as the SmartLabrador Project, the selected Smart Communities project for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This $12 million project saw the development of an extensive wide area network (combining satellite, wireless and terrestrial network technologies) that linked the communities of Labrador. Using this network SmartLabrador provided videoconference and Internet services for health, education, justice and business applications.
• More recently we have managed four major broadband infrastructure developments in Labrador, totalling $14 million. These initiatives brought DSL Internet services into most Labrador communities and significantly expanded the capacity for Labrador businesses to work online.
• SmartLabrador led the development of several regional websites for tourism marketing and immigration recruitment that entailed extensive research and data collation. These projects were delivered on time, on budget and enjoy continued success today.
• Professional contract experience in international work for regional development, telecentre management and Knowledge Network development.
• Like all Labradorians, we have a keen sense of place and a strong appreciation for the unique cultural heritage of Labrador. As a way of giving something back, SmartLabrador designed and managed the Coastal Heritage Experience project. CHE is an extensive collection of digitized stories, songs and photos depicting traditional life in coastal Labrador. The database is housed at the SmartLabrador offices where it is freely browsable by anyone, and is consulted by tourism businesses when developing authentic, experience-based tourism products and services.
